Avoiding Negative Nancy. AKA Debbie Downer: The worst type of people for people with depression to be around. They are negative and will kill your vibe. You want your vibe to be positive so you can heal and feel better. You know the type when your around them they are very draining.
Sometimes we have no choice to be around these type of people because you work with them or say there one of your family members. Seriously though, when you must be around them here are some tips.
- Try to make the encounter as brief as possible.
- Remain Calm.
- Remain Positive. Yes, I know it is hard but trust me it will make things easier in the long run.
- Do the best you can with what you have to work with.
- Pray.
- Smile
- Think happy thoughts. Need some inspiration? Check out Pinterest. Beware it is addicting as can be if you like that kind of thing as much as I do.
So he or she had (or has) you in their grip huh? Just remember you are only human and humans are not perfect. Just strive to do things you enjoy and always have things to look forward to.
Even if it is just a dinner date with a friend. If you can't afford to go out then eat at home. Meanwhile stay calm (never let them see they got to you) and hold your tongue best as you can and hopefully the encounter will be brief.
